My Story
For years I’ve been cycling both on trails and the road. Then I learned the importance of cross training and started running. Since 2012 when I downloaded my sports tracker, I’ve never covered less than 3500 km riding and running. Almost every article I read about increasing speed and endurance for either sport emphasized strengthening the core, upper and lower back, and other muscles. I also learned the importance of flexibility and muscle range for improved performance.
During this period, I was confronted with another problem. I was traveling once or twice per month on business often for periods up to two weeks. I couldn’t pack my bicycle onto the plane and hope to ride at my destination. Most places were not conducive to running and some hotels didn’t have good health clubs. So how could I maintain my conditioning while not leaving my hotel room? This led me to the world of fitness without equipment.
Over the years I’ve learned how to maintain fitness with no or minimal equipment. It led me to understand that a good fitness plan is perfect for people who can’t/shouldn’t be running or cycling. I’m now aware of the benefits of flexibility, balance, and mobility which are often overlooked. I’ve now completed formal training at the Wingate Institute as a Fitness Coach and provide workouts and classes to groups and individuals
